Meteorologists forecast scattered rain and moderate to severe cold weather conditions ahead.

The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Center announced today, Thursday, that scattered rainfall is expected in various regions of Yemen. The forecast also indicates mild weather along the coastal areas, while the mountainous regions will experience severe cold. These predictions are based on weather maps, satellite images, and outputs from global numerical models.

Coastal Weather Conditions

According to the daily weather bulletin issued by the center, coastal regions will likely experience partly cloudy to clear skies. The temperatures will remain moderate, with a possibility of scattered rain in parts of the southern and western coasts, as well as the Socotra Archipelago. Light to moderate winds are expected along the southern coasts, while active winds in the Socotra Archipelago and southern western coasts could reach speeds of 28 knots.

Mountainous Regions and Inland Areas

The Weather Forecasting Center predicts that mountainous areas will experience clear skies, turning very cold to extremely cold during the night and early morning. By midday, conditions will shift to partly cloudy, with a chance of scattered rain in the northwestern parts of the western highlands. Additionally, fog formation is possible. Meanwhile, desert and interior plateau areas will see clear skies during the day, with moderate temperatures, while nights will be relatively cold. Moderate winds may stir dust and sand in these regions.

Safety Warnings

The center has issued warnings for citizens, particularly the elderly and children in mountainous areas, to take precautions against the cold weather during the night and early morning. Residents in areas forecasted for rain should avoid riverbeds and streams. Farmers, livestock breeders, and beekeepers in the mountainous regions should also prepare for a drop in temperatures.

Marine Weather Conditions

In its maritime weather bulletin, the Weather Forecasting Center reported that sea conditions will be moderate along various coasts. The Socotra Archipelago will experience moderate to rough seas, while the Arabian Sea will also see moderate to rough conditions. The Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea will have moderate waves. The center cautioned fishermen and ship captains in the Socotra Archipelago, Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, eastern coasts, Bab al-Mandab, and the Red Sea about potential high waves and strong winds.

• Al-Dhale: 11°C / 28°C
• Marib: 11°C / 28°C
• Ataq: 14°C / 29°C
• Lahij: 22°C / 30°C
• Al-Hudaydah: 24°C / 31°C
• Zinjibar: 23°C / 30°C
