Meteorological report: Extreme heat expected in coastal and desert areas, with thunderstorms forecasted for mountainous regions.

Weather Advisory: Hot and Humid Conditions Persist

The Meteorological and Early Warning Center of the General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology has issued its daily report, warning residents of ongoing hot and humid weather in coastal areas. The report highlights the potential for fog and drizzle in eastern Al-Mahra Governorate, along with scattered rainfall along the eastern and southern coasts. Additionally, strong winds are expected, particularly in the Socotra Archipelago.

Mountainous Regions Forecast

The center anticipates clear to partly cloudy conditions in the mountainous regions. However, there is a possibility of heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail across a wide area stretching from Saada in the north to Al-Bayda in the east, passing through Taiz, Lahij, Al-Dhale, Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout, and Al-Mahra.

Desert and Plateau Conditions

In the desert and plateau areas, expect dry and clear to partly cloudy skies. Temperatures may exceed 40 degrees Celsius, with winds stirring up dust and sand.

    • Dhamar: 29°C / 12°C
    • Al-Dhale: 34°C / 20°C
    • Ibb: 30°C / 16°C
    • Al-Bayda: 33°C / 19°C

Marine Conditions

  • Abyan, Aden, and Western Coasts: Light to moderate waves
  • Shabwa and Bab al-Mandab Coasts: Moderate waves
  • Al-Mahra and Hadramout Coasts: Moderate to rough seas
  • Socotra Coasts: Rough to very rough seas
  • Red Sea and Gulf of Aden: Light to moderate waves
  • Arabian Sea: Rough to very rough seas

Center Warnings

The center advises the public to take the following precautions:

  • Avoid areas prone to flooding and valleys during thunderstorms.
  • Exercise caution against direct sun exposure in desert and coastal regions.
  • Be aware of rough sea conditions and strong currents, especially along the coasts of Socotra, Al-Mahra, Hadramout, Shabwa, Abyan, Aden, and Lahij.
