King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center Launches Training Program for Farmers in Socotra

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center has initiated a training program aimed at enhancing the skills of farmers in Socotra. This initiative falls under the project titled “Sustainable Agriculture and Agricultural and Fishery Empowerment to Strengthen Resilience in Yemen,” executed by the Good Coalition for Humanitarian Relief.

Objectives of the Project

The primary goal of this project is to strengthen the resilience of agricultural communities and increase local food production. The program will achieve this through specialized training sessions, distribution of agricultural inputs, rehabilitation of production assets, and improved management of water resources.

Inauguration Ceremony Highlights

The launch ceremony attracted key figures, including the leadership of the (808) Support and Assistance Force and the Director of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office in the province. During the event, the Deputy Governor, Brigadier General Saleh Al-Saqtri, praised the developmental role of the center. He emphasized that such initiatives provide genuine support to the agricultural sector and help reduce reliance on foreign imports.

Training Program Details

The training program targets 90 farmers from various regions of the archipelago. It includes:

  • Five specialized courses covering sustainable agriculture, marketing, post-harvest management, pest control, and fertilizer preparation.
  • Training for veterinary guides to serve rural communities.
  • An expansion plan to include 450 farmers across five provinces: Hadramaut, Al-Mahra, Shabwa, Marib, and Socotra.

This initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing agricultural practices and food security in Yemen, contributing to the overall resilience of local communities.
