The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology has issued a warning about an impending cold wave affecting Yemen. Satellite imagery and various global numerical models indicate that significant temperature drops will occur in the coming days.
In a 72-hour alert published on Tuesday evening, the meteorological center forecasts a notable decrease in temperatures, accompanied by extremely cold conditions and frost formation. In particular, the perceived temperatures may plummet to as low as 0°C in the provinces of Dhamar, Sana’a, Amran, Al-Bayda, and Saada.
Furthermore, temperatures could dip below 5°C in parts of the deserts and internal plateaus of Al-Mahra, Hadhramaut, and Shabwa. Cold to very cold weather is expected to prevail across other regions, especially during the night and early morning hours.
The meteorological center urges citizens to take precautions against the severe cold. Children, the elderly, and vulnerable populations should be particularly mindful of the weather conditions. Farmers, beekeepers, and livestock owners in the affected areas must implement necessary measures to protect their property and livestock from the impending temperature drop.
As Yemen prepares for this cold wave, residents are encouraged to stay informed and take appropriate actions to safeguard their health and belongings. The meteorological authority will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
