King Salman Humanitarian Aid Project Cleans Yemen of Landmines

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s "Masam" project has made significant strides in clearing Yemen of landmines. Last week, the project successfully removed 1,504 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices planted by Houthi militias, which are backed by the Iranian regime, across various provinces.

Weekly Progress Report

In a press release published on its website, Masam reported that the recent efforts included the removal of 1,459 unexploded munitions and 40 anti-tank mines. Since the beginning of May, the total number of cleared munitions has reached 5,567 unexploded devices and 132 anti-tank mines.

Extensive Land Clearance Efforts

From May 1 to May 23, 2025, Masam’s engineering teams cleared 739,545 square meters of land contaminated with mines and war remnants in several liberated Yemeni provinces. This ongoing effort highlights the project’s commitment to restoring safety in affected areas.

Long-Term Impact and Achievements

Since its launch in June 2018, Masam has cleared over 67 million square meters of land, marking one of the largest humanitarian operations in Yemen. The initiative aims to protect civilian lives and create a safe environment for residents, free from the dangers posed by landmines.
