King Salman Humanitarian Aid Project Cleans Up Yemen’s Landmines

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s "Masam" project has made significant strides in clearing Yemen of landmines. During the first week of June, the project removed 1,139 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Houthi militias across various provinces.

Weekly Achievements in Landmine Removal

According to a statement from the Masam operations room, the removal efforts included 1,080 pieces of unexploded ordnance and 56 anti-tank mines. Additionally, engineering teams associated with the project cleared 146,921 square meters of Yemeni land during this period. These efforts aim to ensure the safety of civilians in affected areas.

Cumulative Impact Since Project Launch

The statement highlighted that since the project’s inception in late June 2018, a total of 337,027 unexploded ordnance items, 8,237 IEDs, 146,617 anti-tank mines, and 6,802 anti-personnel mines have been removed. Furthermore, the total area cleared of landmines and war remnants has reached an impressive 67,579,917 square meters. Commitment to Civilian Safety

The ongoing efforts of the Masam project reflect a strong commitment to safeguarding civilian lives in Yemen. As the project continues, it aims to further reduce the risks posed by landmines and unexploded ordnance, contributing to a safer environment for all.
