Marib Police Destroy One Million Drug Capsules in Major Operation

Marib, Yemen – On Wednesday, the Marib Police destroyed a significant quantity of narcotics, totaling approximately 6,200 packets of pregabalin capsules, each containing 300 mg. This operation equates to nearly one million capsules. The destruction followed the completion of necessary legal and judicial procedures, supervised by the Public Prosecution and the specialized military committee.

Ongoing Efforts in Drug Control

During the destruction process, Major General Yahya Hamid, the Director of Marib Police, emphasized the unwavering commitment of security forces to pursue and apprehend those involved in drug trafficking and smuggling. He highlighted that this issue poses a severe threat to society, with repercussions extending to neighboring countries.

Major General Hamid noted that security and military agencies in the province work in continuous coordination to combat drug smuggling and curb its spread. He pointed out that organized networks, managed by Houthi militias, are behind these smuggling operations, aiming to inundate the community with these harmful substances. He reaffirmed that security forces remain dedicated to their national duty of protecting citizens and enhancing security and stability.

Achievements in Drug Enforcement

The Marib Police Chief praised the significant efforts made by security and military units, which have led to ongoing successes in combating drug trafficking and apprehending dealers. He stressed that addressing this phenomenon requires collective efforts from all sectors, including the community.

Importance of Community Awareness

Colonel Abdulrazak Al-Rawafi, Director of the Drug Control Department at Marib Police, explained that the destroyed materials fall under the category of prohibited narcotics and psychoactive substances. He noted that the destruction process adhered to legal and judicial protocols in accordance with current regulations.

Colonel Al-Rawafi urged community members to enhance awareness of the dangers of drugs and to collaborate with relevant authorities in combating smuggling and promotion. He emphasized that community partnership is a fundamental pillar in safeguarding society and ensuring the well-being of its members.
