Mareb Welcomes European Ambassadors
Today, Sultan Al-Aradah, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council and Governor of Mareb, welcomed Patrick Simonnet, the European Union Ambassador to Yemen, and Janet Seppen, the Dutch Ambassador. The meeting focused on the current political, economic, and humanitarian situation in Yemen, aiming to strengthen partnerships and cooperation with the international community.
Support for Yemen’s Political Leadership
Al-Aradah expressed gratitude for the support from both the European Union and the Netherlands towards the Yemeni people and their political leadership. He acknowledged their active role in humanitarian and developmental programs, emphasizing the importance of international solidarity.
Commitment to Reforms and Humanitarian Relief
The member of the Presidential Leadership Council reaffirmed the commitment of the council and the government to implement reforms. He highlighted the need to enhance the presence of state institutions and alleviate the humanitarian suffering caused by the war instigated by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.
Challenges to Regional Stability
Al-Aradah pointed out that the Houthi militias’ continued defiance poses a significant threat to regional and international security, as well as maritime navigation. He stressed the necessity for the international community to exert pressure on the militias to comply with international resolutions.
Call for Increased International Support
The governor underscored the importance of doubling international support for the Yemeni government. He urged for assistance in achieving economic recovery and addressing humanitarian and developmental needs. This support would enhance the capacity of state institutions to meet citizens’ obligations and foster security, stability, and sustainable development.

Al-Aradah praised the existing partnership with the European Union and the Netherlands.
