Local Authority Honors Former Military Leader in Hadhramaut

On Tuesday, the local authority in Hadhramaut honored Major General Saleh Mohammed Tamees, the former commander of the First Military Region and advisor to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The ceremony took place at the leadership headquarters in Seiyun, Hadhramaut.

Acknowledging Contributions to Security

During the event, Amer Saeed Al-Amri, the Deputy Governor of Hadhramaut for the Valley and Desert Districts, praised the First Military Region’s role in safeguarding the valley and desert districts. He highlighted the military’s efforts to counter threats from extremist groups aiming to disrupt security. Al-Amri commended Major General Tamees for his sacrifices in establishing security and stability in the region during challenging times. He expressed confidence that the new leadership would continue this vital mission.

Commitment to Stability and Law Enforcement

Al-Amri noted that since taking office, the local authority has focused on reinforcing security and stability. Their efforts include activating law enforcement agencies and maintaining social cohesion within the community.

Recognizing Past Efforts

Brigadier General Ahmed Abu Hatim, head of the handover committee, acknowledged the significant contributions of previous leaders in establishing security and combating terrorism and smuggling. He emphasized that these leaders made great sacrifices, including the loss of many soldiers. Abu Hatim wished the new leadership success in preserving the achievements and gains of the military and national interests in the region.

Support for New Leadership

In his remarks, Major General Tamees extended his greetings to the political leadership, including the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and its members. He congratulated the new commanders of the First Military Region and the 135th Infantry Brigade, wishing them success in their upcoming tasks. Tamees expressed gratitude to the local authority and military leaders for their recognition and support, affirming his commitment to stand alongside the new leadership in protecting national gains.

Continuing the Fight Against Threats

The current commander of the First Military Region, Major General Saleh Mohammed Al-Jaimalani, reiterated the commitment to ongoing efforts to maintain security and stability. He emphasized the necessity of combating terrorism and smuggling while collaborating with security forces, military authorities, and local communities.

Attendance and Support

The ceremony saw the attendance of several dignitaries, including Hadhramaut Deputy Governor Salem Bin Sharman, Interior Ministry Deputy Chief Brigadier General Aboud Al-Sharif, and the Director-General of Security and Police for the Valley and Desert of Hadhramaut, Brigadier General Abdullah Bin Habish, along with various military and security leaders.

This event highlights the importance of leadership continuity in maintaining security and stability in Hadhramaut, ensuring the region’s resilience against emerging threats.
