Yemeni Presidential Council Member Discusses Bilateral Relations and Peace Efforts with US Ambassador

In a significant meeting held on Monday, Sheikh Osman Majali, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, engaged in talks with Stephen Fagan, the United States Ambassador to Yemen. The discussions focused on strengthening the friendly bilateral relations between the two countries and collaborative efforts to establish peace.

Condemnation of Israeli Occupation Violations

During the meeting, Majali vehemently condemned the brutal crimes and violations perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against the defenseless Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. He highlighted the siege of innocents, targeting of homes, and destruction causing severe humanitarian disasters.

Support for the Palestinian Cause

Majali reiterated the steadfast position of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Yemeni government, and its people in supporting the Palestinian cause. He emphasized the commitment to backing the establishment of a fully sovereign Palestinian state, in accordance with relevant international resolutions. Majali appreciated the joint efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States aimed at an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, resumption of negotiations, and ending the suffering endured by the resilient Palestinian people.

Highlighting Houthi Militia’s Atrocities

The discussion also shed light on the daily sufferings of citizens in provinces under the control of the Houthi terrorist militias. Majali detailed the barbaric attacks directed by Iran against the Yemeni people, including a recent military campaign against the residents of the Sarar area in Bayda province. These actions have terrorized innocent civilians and hindered their normal life activities.

The Houthi Threat and International Response

Majali asserted that only Yemenis, who understand the true capabilities of the Houthis, can eliminate the Houthi project threatening their lives. He criticized the Houthis’ targeting of pomegranate farmers in Saada province and their attempts to impose levies, forcing farmers to rebel against these oppressive measures.

Furthermore, Majali highlighted the serious threat posed by the Houthi militia to Yemen, the region, and international interests, especially through terrorist acts in the Red Sea. He clarified that the militia’s preparations are not aimed at peace, contrasting with the peace-seeking efforts supported by the legitimate government and its international partners.

International Support and Humanitarian Concerns

Majali also pointed out the dire humanitarian situation, human and material losses in Taiz, Hodeidah, Hajjah, and recently in Marib due to climate change and severe floods. He called for effective international intervention to address the emergency needs and assist families who have lost homes, farms, and basic life necessities.

He commended the swift humanitarian response by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, providing urgent food and shelter assistance to the flood-affected through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.

US Commitment to Supporting Yemen

Ambassador Stephen Fagan reaffirmed the United States’ dedication to supporting Yemen and standing with its people. He expressed readiness for urgent intervention based on assessments by international organizations and humanitarian partners in Yemen, highlighting the importance of backing the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, and the Yemeni people to overcome the ongoing crises.

This meeting underscores the international community’s growing consensus against the Houthi’s extortionate actions and reveals the unveiled ambitions of the Houthi and Iran following decisive US strikes. The dialogue between Yemen and the United States continues to focus on bilateral relations, peace efforts, and addressing humanitarian challenges, demonstrating a shared commitment to stability and prosperity in Yemen and the region.
