On February 12, 2025, the Deputy Governor of Hadhramaut for the Valley and Desert Districts, Amer Al-Amri, inaugurated the third phase of the mosque renovation campaign in Sayoun. This initiative, executed by the Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance, has a total budget of 250 million Yemeni Riyals, funded entirely through local resources.
During the launch, Deputy Governor Al-Amri, along with Dr. Abdul Nasser Al-Khatri, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf, and Sayoun District Director Khalid Balfas, received a detailed briefing from Mohammed Balfas, the Director of the Awqaf Office in the Hadhramaut Valley. The campaign encompasses 12 projects aimed at distributing essential supplies and providing necessary equipment for several mosques. This includes furnishings, electrical devices, plumbing materials, and more.
Additionally, the campaign will implement solar energy projects for 29 mosques across the districts of Sayoun, Tarim, and Shibam in two phases. The initiative also features television and radio programs to raise awareness and engage the community.
Deputy Governor Al-Amri emphasized the significance of this campaign in preparing mosques to welcome worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan. He highlighted the campaign’s role in creating a conducive environment for worship, remembrance, and prayer. Al-Amri noted that this initiative reflects the commitment of local authorities and the Awqaf Office to serve the houses of God and ensure they are well-equipped for the community.
This mosque renovation campaign not only aims to enhance the physical spaces for worship but also fosters a sense of community and spiritual engagement among the residents of Hadhramaut.
