National Chess Player Khaled Walid Al-Amari Claims Victory at Port Said International Chess Championship

Impressive Performance Leads to Ranking Boost

Khaled Walid Al-Amari, a member of the national chess team, secured first place at the Port Said International Chess Championship. The tournament, organized by the Egyptian Chess Federation, took place from September 16 to 23.

Al-Amari achieved this remarkable feat by earning 8.5 points, consisting of 8 wins and 1 draw. As a result of his performance, he increased his international ranking by 200 points, bringing his total to an impressive 2100.

Strong Showings from National Team Players

The championship also highlighted the skills of fellow national player Abdo Al-Badani, who finished in ninth place. He tied on points with competitors ranked from seventh to thirteenth. Additionally, Mandooh Farah, another member of the national team, broke into the list of internationally ranked classical chess players with a rating of 1857.

Competitive Field at the Championship

The tournament featured over 130 players from various Arab countries, competing in nine rounds. Among the participants were more than ten players holding international titles, showcasing the high level of competition.

This victory not only marks a significant achievement for Al-Amari but also reflects the growing strength of the national chess team on the international stage.
