Jordan: We will not be a battleground for any party
Jordan's Government Stands Firm Against Airspace Violations
Jordan’s Minister of Government Communication and official government spokesperson, Mohammad Momani, has firmly rejected attempts by certain regional actors to violate Jordan’s airspace. This statement comes in light of recent incidents involving drones that have entered Jordanian airspace, with some parts and structures falling within the kingdom’s territory.
Recent Incidents Highlight Airspace Concerns
Momani reported two such incidents in the past few days, occurring in the Irbid and Jerash governorates. He characterized these violations as a significant threat, stating, “Jordan addresses this issue according to military engagement rules and takes all necessary measures to counter these infringements.”
Jordan’s Military Readiness
According to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Momani emphasized that the Jordanian Armed Forces, including the Arab Army, fulfill their sacred duty of protecting the nation’s borders by land, sea, and air. He assured the public that the military utilizes all its resources to ensure the security and safety of the country and its citizens. “The army will not hesitate to apply engagement rules against anyone attempting to harm Jordan’s security,” he added.
Warning Against Regional Instability
In his remarks, Momani warned of increasing regional unrest, reiterating that “Jordan will not become a battleground for any party.” He affirmed that the country will not allow military aircraft, missiles, or drones to traverse its airspace.
Call for Regional Cooperation
Momani renewed his call for conflicting parties in the region to respect national sovereignty and to avoid harming the people of the area. He urged them to de-escalate tensions that seek dominance and competition over agendas that do not serve the interests of the people. Such conflicts disrupt the potential for peace, dignity, and justice.
Public Safety Advisory
In conclusion, Momani advised citizens to exercise caution regarding the ongoing regional developments. He urged them to refrain from spreading rumors or sharing unverified images and videos. Furthermore, he requested that the public adhere to instructions from military, security, and civilian authorities regarding the handling of any objects that may fall to the ground. He emphasized the importance of keeping a safe distance from these objects, as they may contain hazardous materials. Citizens should promptly report any incidents to the relevant authorities to ensure public safety through necessary security and preventive measures.
