Ongoing Israeli Attacks in Southern Lebanon

Despite a ceasefire declared on April 17, Israeli forces continue to launch deadly airstrikes in southern Lebanon. According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, at least 380 individuals have lost their lives, and 1,122 have sustained injuries since the ceasefire began.

Targeting Emergency Response Teams

On Tuesday, an Israeli airstrike targeted a civil defense team that was assisting a victim from a previous attack. This assault resulted in the deaths of three paramedics and left another injured. The General Directorate of Civil Defense also confirmed that two additional personnel lost their lives in a similar strike in Nabatieh.

Continued Strikes Despite Ceasefire

Despite a ceasefire announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump, Israel has persisted with airstrikes, demolitions, and bombings in border towns. In response, Hezbollah has targeted Israeli forces using missiles and drones. Health Minister Rakan Nasruddin condemned these actions as a “systematic assault on civilians,” describing the ceasefire as “fragile and unrealistic.”

The Ministry of Health reports that among the deceased are:

  • 22 children
  • 39 women

Save the Children has highlighted that over four children die or are injured daily during the first 25 days of the ceasefire, asserting that the situation does not reflect a true “ceasefire for children.”

Widespread Escalation and Displacement

Since Lebanon became embroiled in conflict on March 2, following Hezbollah’s missile response to the death of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, Israel has conducted a ground invasion and extensive airstrikes. These actions have resulted in the displacement of more than one million people.

The overall death toll has now risen to 2,882, including 200 children and 279 women, a figure that also accounts for Hezbollah fighters killed in Israeli attacks.
