The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that more than 308,000 individuals have been displaced since the military escalation initiated by Houthi militias in early August. The majority of these displacements occurred in the Taiz and Lahij governorates.
In a recent report, the IOM’s displacement tracking matrix recorded the displacement of 51,436 families, totaling 308,653 individuals, from August 1 to November 3.
The report highlighted that Taiz governorate received the highest number of displaced individuals, with 135,648 people, accounting for 44 percent of the total displacements. Lahij followed with 77,052 individuals, representing 25 percent, while Aden reported 58,884 individuals, making up 19 percent of the displacements.
The report also noted that the remaining cases of displacement occurred in the governorates of Abyan, Al Hudaydah, Shabwa, Hadramaut, Marib, Al Mahrah, and Al Dhale’e, with varying percentages.
The IOM emphasized that this widespread displacement reflects the significant humanitarian consequences of the Houthi escalation, which imposes increasing burdens on host communities and essential services in the affected areas.
