The U.S. Department of State announced sanctions against two individuals and one entity across three countries for their role in assisting Iran in acquiring portable air defense systems.
The sanctions specifically target individuals and an entity located in Belarus, Russia, and Nigeria. These actions aim to disrupt efforts by Tehran to enhance its military capabilities.
The Department of State emphasized that these sanctions build upon previous measures taken by the United States. The goal is to increase the difficulty and cost of Iran’s attempts to bolster its weaponry. This initiative also supports the enforcement of international restrictions re-imposed in September 2025.
The U.S. Department of State highlighted that Iran’s pursuit of portable air defense systems poses a threat to American national security. The department reiterated that Washington will continue to take all necessary measures to hold the Iranian regime accountable and to limit its activities that threaten security and stability.
