Minister Calls for Collective Action to Address Traffic Accidents

Interior Minister Ibrahim Haidan has underscored the critical need for collaboration among government institutions, organizations, and the general public to support initiatives aimed at reducing traffic accidents. In his remarks, he emphasized the importance of implementing awareness programs and sustainable measures to effectively address this pressing issue.

Significance of Traffic Awareness Initiatives

In a statement marking the commencement of Arab Traffic Week, which begins tomorrow across all provinces under the slogan “Slow Down… We Are Waiting for You,” Minister Haidan highlighted the significance of these events in raising community awareness regarding traffic rules and regulations. The alarming increase in traffic accidents and their associated human and material costs necessitates concrete actions to mitigate the risks.

Concerning Statistics

Minister Haidan presented concerning statistics, revealing that traffic accidents in 2025 resulted in 669 fatalities and left 4,410 individuals injured, with financial losses nearing 5 billion riyals. These statistics illustrate the profound challenges that traffic issues pose to society and the state, affecting various dimensions including security, economy, social well-being, and public health.

Commendation of Traffic Police Efforts

The minister commended the unwavering dedication of traffic police officers across various provinces. Their continuous efforts to manage traffic and guide road users reflect a commendable commitment to public safety, especially in challenging circumstances.

A Call for Cooperation and Community Participation

Minister Haidan urged all personnel within the ministry and various security agencies to actively participate in the activities of Arab Traffic Week. He stressed the necessity of collaboration with traffic police to achieve tangible results in raising traffic safety awareness.

He reiterated his appeal to road users, especially drivers of vehicles and motorcycles, to strictly adhere to traffic regulations and etiquette. The minister highlighted the importance of following safety measures to protect lives and property, thereby enhancing overall road security.

Furthermore, he encouraged all sectors of society, including media outlets, religious leaders, educational institutions, and civil society organizations, to contribute to promoting a culture of traffic safety and fostering positive behaviors among road users.
