Information Minister: Houthi changes aim to revive imamate rule, making Yemen subservient to Iran.

Yemeni Minister Criticizes Houthi Leader's Vision for the Country

Yemen’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar al-Eryani, recently accused Abdulmalik al-Houthi, the leader of the Iran-backed Houthi militia, of openly revealing his coup project’s true nature. According to al-Eryani, al-Houthi’s vision starkly contrasts with Yemen’s geographical breadth, social structure, political plurality, and religious and ethnic diversity. He asserts that al-Houthi aims to establish a monolithic control, revive the detested racial Imamate rule, and place Yemen under Iran’s influence.

Decade of Destruction

In a press statement, al-Eryani elaborated that the Houthi militia’s announced government formation is the culmination of a decade-long brutal coup and systematic destruction of state institutions. This period witnessed the removal of tens of thousands of leaders, experts, academics, and specialists across various fields, replaced by ideologically aligned individuals lacking qualifications, experience, or capabilities beyond their total allegiance to Tehran’s regime.

Call for Unity and Resistance

Al-Eryani urged the remaining leaders of the General People’s Congress in the Houthi-held capital, Sanaa, to reassess their “illusory” partnership with the militia and to join the national project after breaking free from the Houthi’s grip. He accused the Houthi militia of using these leaders as scapegoats for their failures, corruption, tyranny, and atrocities committed against Yemenis.

Furthermore, al-Eryani called on all Yemenis to draw lessons and rally sincerely around the constitutional legitimacy to save Yemen from the grim future the Houthi militia and Iran are dragging it towards. He emphasized that the true nature of the Houthi’s racist and sectarian project has been unveiled, branding them as a rogue terrorist gang with no agenda other than death and destruction, remotely controlled by Tehran.
