King Salman Humanitarian Aid Project Cleanses Yemen of Landmines

In the first week of April, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s project “Masam” successfully removed 543 landmines from various provinces in Yemen. These mines, planted by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, pose a significant threat to civilian safety.

Details of the Removal Operations

According to a statement from “Masam,” the operation included the removal of six anti-personnel mines, 23 anti-tank mines, 511 unexploded ordnance, and three explosive devices. The majority of these hazardous materials were cleared in Aden, where teams removed 511 unexploded ordnance and three explosive devices. Meanwhile, in Marib, teams successfully extracted six anti-personnel mines and 23 anti-tank mines.

Ongoing Efforts and Impact

Since the inception of the “Masam” project, the total number of landmines removed has reached an impressive 486,651. These mines were indiscriminately planted across Yemen, endangering the lives of innocent civilians, including children, women, and the elderly. The ongoing efforts of “Masam” aim to alleviate fear and restore safety to communities affected by this conflict.

The work of the “Masam” project highlights the critical need for humanitarian efforts in Yemen. As the project continues its mission, it plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the Yemeni people.
