Recent reports from local sources indicate that armed members of the Houthi militia have attacked a community water project and agricultural crops belonging to residents in the village of Badhah, located in the Al-Makhader district of northern Ibb Governorate.
Witnesses claim that the militia members destroyed equipment associated with the water project, tampered with crops, and stole a portion of the harvest. This incident occurred despite repeated pleas from the community for intervention from local security forces, which are allegedly complicit with the Houthi group.
In a related incident at the Mafrq Habish market, also within the same district, Houthi militants forced vendors near the Abu Hleqa station to pay financial levies under duress. Local residents accuse a Houthi official in the Mafrq Habish area of colluding with armed groups to share the collected taxes.
These violations come amid ongoing complaints from residents regarding rampant chaos, theft, and extortion perpetrated by Houthi elements and affiliated gangs in Al-Makhader and surrounding rural areas of Ibb. The community continues to express frustration over the lack of protection and support from local authorities.
The situation in Ibb highlights the urgent need for intervention to restore order and protect the rights of local residents. As the community grapples with these challenges, the call for accountability and security remains paramount.
