During a press conference held today in Marib, the center unveiled its report titled “The Afflicted Humanity,” detailing the state of human rights in Al-Bayda for the year 2024. The report covers the period from 2014 to 2024 and highlights a total of 12,989 documented violations. These include 823 cases of murder, with 30% of the victims being women and children. Additionally, the report notes 796 injuries, with 35% of those affected also being women and children.
The documented violations encompass a wide range of abuses, including:
The center’s latest report reveals that in 2024 alone, there were 373 recorded violations across all districts of Al-Bayda. This includes:
The report indicates that the city of Rada’ experienced the highest number of violations, with 94 cases, accounting for 25% of the total. Following Rada’, the districts of Dhi Naim and Al-Zahir reported 90 and 44 violations, respectively. The Al-Arsh district recorded 31 violations, while Al-Qurashiya documented 21. The remaining 93 violations were distributed across other districts, making up 25% of the total.
The report emphasizes that the documented cases do not represent all violations. They reflect only those that the center’s monitors could access and verify according to national and international legal standards. The Houthi militia’s efforts to obscure these violations, along with the intimidation of monitors and fear among victims and their families, hinder comprehensive documentation.
The Monitoring Center urges the international community and the United Nations to halt the daily flow of weapons to the Houthi militia. They advocate for the enforcement of accountability measures against perpetrators and demand compensation for victims. Furthermore, the center calls for an urgent and transparent international investigation into these violations to prevent further catastrophic consequences for the community.
