The organization Masaa has revealed that Houthi militias have been holding approximately 70 civilians in Dhamar Governorate for nearly seven months. Among those detained are elderly individuals and patients, raising significant concerns regarding their humanitarian conditions.
Conditions of Detainees in Security and Intelligence Prison
According to a statement from Masaa, one of the detainees is 70-year-old Massad Nasser Sadaah. He, along with 68 others, was abducted from their homes on the morning of October 28, 2022. These individuals remain in arbitrary detention at the Security and Intelligence Prison in Dhamar, with no legal justification for their confinement.
Serious Violations and Denial of Medical Care
The organization highlighted that the detainees are facing severe violations, primarily due to their political affiliations. This situation constitutes a complete humanitarian crime and represents a blatant violation of national laws and international treaties. In the case of Massad Sadaah, the denial of necessary healthcare is deemed a slow death sentence, exacerbating both his suffering and that of his family.
Masaa has urged local and international human rights organizations to take immediate action to end the suffering of the detainees. The organization emphasized the need for their immediate and unconditional release to alleviate their distress and provide necessary support.
