Houthi Shelling Injures Two Civilians

On Friday morning, two civilians sustained injuries from shelling carried out by Houthi militia in the village of Al Nafsa Al Sofla, located in the Hays district of southern Al Hudaydah province. Local sources reported that the attack injured Najwa Salem and Abdulrahman Ahmed Jabali, who suffered shrapnel wounds to various parts of their bodies. Emergency responders transported both individuals to a field hospital for medical treatment. The shelling also caused damage to several homes and resulted in the death of livestock.

Forced Displacement and Military Occupation of Homes

Simultaneously, the Houthi militia intensified its campaign of forced displacement in areas under its control, particularly in the districts of Al Jarahi and Jabal Ras. Reports indicate that the militia has converted civilian homes into military barracks.

Ghaleb Al Qudaimi, the Deputy Director of the Human Rights Office in the province, stated that the militia coerces residents to abandon their homes under the threat of violence. He described these actions as a “crime against humanity,” noting that dozens of families arrive daily in Hays after being forcibly displaced from their villages.

Increasing Displacement Amid Houthi Escalation

In recent weeks, villages near the front lines in Al Jarahi, Jabal Ras, and Hays have experienced significant waves of displacement. According to reports from the International Organization for Migration, this surge in displacement results from Houthi escalation, targeting civilian infrastructure, and preparations for new attacks.

The situation remains dire as the conflict continues to escalate, affecting countless civilians in the region.
