Houthi militia transfers abductees from Ibb and Taiz to Sana’a.

Houthi Militias Transfer Kidnapped Individuals to Sana’a

The Houthi militia has recently moved several kidnapped individuals from the provinces of Ibb and Taiz to the capital, Sana’a. This action is part of a systematic pattern of violations against detainees in areas under their control.

Reports of Kidnapping and Relocation

Local and human rights sources indicate that the militia transferred a number of detainees from Houthi intelligence prisons in Ibb and from facilities in the Al-Hawban area of Taiz to undisclosed locations in Sana’a. This relocation has left the families of the kidnapped individuals unaware of their loved ones’ whereabouts and fates.

Details of the Transfer

According to reports, more than 25 detainees were moved from the Political Security prison in Ibb to Houthi prisons in Sana’a. This transfer aligns with the militia’s ongoing strategy of psychological and physical torture against detainees and their families, further instilling fear among citizens in the regions they control.

Escalating Campaign of Abductions

The militia initiated a widespread campaign of abductions in May and June, targeting various districts in Ibb province. This campaign has affected dozens of citizens, including doctors, educators, lawyers, and academics, for reasons that remain unclear.

Ongoing Violations and Lack of Oversight

As of now, the Houthi militia continues to hold over 100 individuals from Ibb province, subjecting them to various forms of abuse and torture in their detention facilities. The absence of effective intervention from humanitarian and human rights organizations exacerbates the situation, leaving many families in distress.
