Local sources report that Houthi militias have obstructed the completion of a new mosque funded by residents in Dar Habba village, located in the Samara area of Al-Makhdar district, northern Ibb Governorate. This action highlights the ongoing violations of civil and religious rights in areas under Houthi control.
Sources indicate that Houthi leader Abu Ali Al-Wad’i, who serves as the director of the Guidance Office in the district, ordered the suspension of construction activities initiated by local residents. The decision came with claims that the donor supporting the project is a trader loyal to the legitimate government, currently displaced in Marib.
According to the sources, Houthi militias subjected several residents to interrogation to verify the identity of the donor. After confirming that all villagers contributed to the construction materials, the militias imposed new restrictions. They now require a permit and the payment of fees to allow construction to proceed.
This recent action is part of a broader pattern of restrictions and violations imposed by Houthi militias on mosques in Al-Makhdar district. Over the past few months, they have replaced preachers and imams with individuals loyal to their agenda. These measures aim to enforce a sectarian and inciting narrative in places of worship, threatening the freedom of religion and the rights of the local community.
