Houthi militia abducts ten citizens from various areas in Ibb, taking them to their detention facilities.

Houthi Militia Kidnaps Ten Individuals in Ibb Governorate Amid September Revolution Celebrations

Over the past two days, the Houthi militia has kidnapped ten individuals across various locations in the Ibb Governorate, specifically in the districts of Al-Mashanah, Al-Dhahr, and Yarim. These abductions coincide with public celebrations marking the anniversary of the September Revolution.

Details of the Kidnappings

Local sources report that on the previous day, the militia abducted Khalid Al-Kurayzi, the Deputy Director of the Culture Office in Ibb, from his home in Al-Mashanah. Additionally, seven residents from the Yarim district, along with two others from Al-Dhahr and rural Ibb, were also taken. All these arrests appear to be linked to the ongoing celebrations of the revolution.

Escalating Campaign of Violence

This recent wave of kidnappings follows a series of similar incidents. Just two days prior, the militia had seized 20 individuals in the Al-Makhadir district. In another event, they kidnapped 16 people in the districts of Al-Sayani and Al-Sadah. Alarmingly, the latter incident included the abduction of ten children from the village of “Dhi Sallal” in the Wadi Hajaj area of Al-Sadah.

Targeting Activists and Community Leaders

In recent weeks, the Houthi militia has intensified its crackdown on dissent in Ibb and other regions under its control. The militia has specifically targeted activists, educators, journalists, tribal leaders, and lawyers who participated in the September 26 Revolution celebrations, which the militia opposes.

The ongoing kidnappings highlight the escalating tensions in areas controlled by the Houthi militia, raising significant concerns about human rights violations and the safety of civilians. As the situation develops, many fear further violence and repression in the region.
