Houthi militia abducts dozens of students protesting the removal of their school principal in Ibb.

Houthi Militia Abducts Students in Western Ibb Province

On Tuesday, the Houthi militia abducted dozens of students in a town located in the western region of Ibb province. The militia subsequently detained these students in their prisons.

Local Leadership Changes Spark Protests

Local sources report that the Houthi militia appointed one of its affiliates, identified as “Mahran Al-Ahdal,” as the new director of Al-Mithaq School in the Al-Adain district. This decision resulted in the removal of the school’s previous director, Mr. “Saif Mohammed.”

In response to this abrupt leadership change, dozens of students organized a protest. During the demonstration, they displayed banners rejecting the dismissal of their principal and the appointment of a Houthi replacement.

Military Action Leads to Student Detentions

According to reports, the Houthi militia responded to the protests by launching a military campaign. They abducted numerous students and imprisoned them. Among those taken were students named “Abdulrahman Saif,” “Jalal Hamoud,” “Qusay Mohammed Mohammed,” “Akram Anan,” “Radwan Maqbel,” and “Zaher Amin Ahmed.”

Continued Detention and Comparisons to Israeli Tactics

As of now, the militia refuses to release the detained students, according to local sources. This incident draws parallels to the actions of Israeli forces, which have been known to arrest and abduct Palestinian students and children from the streets of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The Houthi militia appears to be adopting similar tactics.

This alarming situation highlights the ongoing issues of student rights and freedom in conflict zones. The actions of the Houthi militia raise serious concerns about the safety and future of young individuals in these regions.
