A citizen named Majid Al-Qadri recently faced an armed assault by members of the Houthi militia in Ibb, a city in central Yemen. The assailants kidnapped him and took him to an unknown location, highlighting the ongoing violations occurring in the province under Houthi control.
According to local sources, armed individuals driving a dark Mercedes collided with Al-Qadri’s motorcycle in the Al-Madriah neighborhood near the Education Office on Tuesday afternoon. Following the collision, the assailants attacked Al-Qadri with the butts of their rifles, injuring him before abducting him and transporting him away.
Sources confirmed that Al-Qadri has no prior legal issues or accusations against him. This fact raises significant concerns among citizens, especially since the incident occurred in broad daylight. Al-Qadri’s children witnessed the attack, intensifying fear and anxiety among families in the area.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of systematic violations committed by the Houthi militia against residents in various districts of Ibb. Since seizing control of the province in 2014, the militia has engaged in assaults, kidnappings, and raids, in addition to imposing illegal taxes. These actions contribute to the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in the region, prompting urgent calls for intervention from relevant authorities to protect citizens.
