Houthi forces in Amran have dismissed government employees to prepare for the replacement with loyalist personnel.

Houthi Militia Dismisses Employees in Al-Imran, Raising Concerns Over Governance

A recent official document from the General Electricity Corporation in Al-Imran reveals that the Iran-backed Houthi militia has dismissed 13 employees and a department manager under the pretext of “excess labor.” This information comes from the local platform, Al-Imran Today.

Official Document Details

The document, signed by the militia-appointed regional director, Abdul Ghafour Al-Mahdi, lists the names of the dismissed employees. This action appears to be part of a systematic plan to replace qualified personnel with individuals lacking administrative or technical skills, relying solely on sectarian loyalty. Such moves reflect the Houthis’ broader strategy to undermine public service.

Targeting Revenue-Generating Institutions

Reports indicate that these dismissals fit a recurring pattern by the militia to seize control of revenue-generating departments that provide regular salaries. Affected institutions include electricity, water, taxation, universities, and the education sector. The Houthi exclusion extends to all administrative structures, impacting even security guards and janitors.

Implications of Houthi Ideology

The platform emphasizes that these actions illustrate the Houthi ideology rooted in social injustice. They deprive Yemeni employees of their salaries and the right to a dignified life. Additionally, the militia appears to plunder institutional resources, converting them into private fiefdoms while restricting lucrative jobs to a specific lineage to secure their interests and revenues.

Previous Incidents

Earlier this year, the Houthi militia dismissed 22 technicians and collectors in the Al-Imran Electricity Department. One affected individual, Ahmad Hamoud Al-Husseini, tragically took his own life due to financial and living pressures. These incidents highlight the detrimental impact of Houthi policies on the lives of employees and citizens.
