Yemen's Health Minister Launches the Supreme Medical Council in Aden

In a significant move to enhance the medical sector, Yemen’s Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qasim Buhaibeh, inaugurated the Supreme Medical Council’s operations in the temporary capital, Aden, today.

Professional Licensing and Practice Renewal

During the inauguration, Dr. Buhaibeh received his renewed professional medical license and practice permit, marking him as a certified health practitioner by the newly established Supreme Medical Council in Aden. This step underscores the council’s commitment to regulating and standardizing the medical profession within the region.

Call for Professional Registration

The Health Minister urged both public and private healthcare sector workers to obtain their new professional description cards and practice permits from the Supreme Medical Council. He highlighted the council’s significant responsibilities, which include the equivalency of medical certificates for health professionals, ensuring patient rights through quality care, and adherence to the latest medical practices by licensed professionals.

Ready to Serve the Medical Community

Dr. Omar Zain, President of the Supreme Medical Council, affirmed the council’s readiness to begin accepting applications for professional classification and practice licenses. He emphasized that the council is open to applications from both the public and private sectors, including Yemeni and foreign medical personnel across various professional descriptions. Dr. Zain also pointed out that the council, established by a presidential decree, aims to protect patient rights and guarantee access to high-quality healthcare services.

This development is a step forward in Yemen’s efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare services and ensure the professionalism of its medical sector. The Supreme Medical Council’s establishment in Aden represents a significant milestone in achieving these goals, promising a brighter future for healthcare in Yemen.
