Minister of Health Advocates for Enhanced Health Collaboration with China

In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Minister of Public Health and Population Qassem Baheeb convened today with Zhao Cheng, the Chargé d’Affaires of the People’s Republic of China to Yemen. The meeting focused on exploring avenues to strengthen health cooperation between the two nations.

Focus on Health Projects and Infrastructure

During their discussions, both officials reviewed a range of health projects that have received support from China. They emphasized the significance of collaboration in critical areas, including health infrastructure, medical equipment, and capacity building. These initiatives aim to enhance medical services available to Yemen’s citizens. Minister Baheeb underscored the necessity of expanding health partnerships and utilizing Chinese expertise to support priority health programs, particularly in light of the ongoing challenges confronting Yemen’s health sector.

Acknowledging Historical Ties

Minister Baheeb took the opportunity to commend the longstanding relationship between Yemen and China. He noted that China has consistently played a pivotal role as one of the foremost supporters of Yemen’s health sector through its humanitarian and developmental projects.

Commitment to Ongoing Support

In response, Zhao Cheng reaffirmed China’s dedication to continue its support for Yemen’s health sector. He expressed a strong desire to enhance cooperation, which would contribute to alleviating the suffering of Yemeni citizens and bolster recovery efforts while improving health services across the nation.

This meeting highlights the ongoing collaboration between Yemen and China, concentrating on the enhancement of health services and addressing the pressing needs of the Yemeni population.
