Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council President Meets with German Foreign Ministry Officials

In a significant diplomatic engagement on Tuesday, the President of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, held a meeting with Tobias Tonkel, the Director for the Middle East and Near East at the German Foreign Ministry, and Hubert Jaeger, the German Federal Republic’s Ambassador to Yemen.

The discussion focused on the longstanding bilateral relations between the two friendly nations and explored ways to enhance these ties across various sectors. The meeting also covered the need for German and European support for comprehensive economic reforms in Yemen and efforts to alleviate the humanitarian suffering caused by the Houthi militias, which are backed by the Iranian regime.

Further topics of discussion included regional developments, the Israeli aggression on Yemeni territories and the Palestinian people, and its implications for international peace and security. The importance of implementing international legal decisions to fulfill the aspirations for security, stability, and peace in the region was also emphasized.

Dr. Al-Alimi briefed the German officials on the latest developments in Yemen, including the commendable efforts led by Saudi Arabia to initiate a comprehensive political process that meets the aspirations of all Yemenis in building a state based on equal citizenship and the rule of law.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the Federal Republic of Germany for its stance alongside the Yemeni people and its political leadership in mitigating the humanitarian suffering caused by the Houthi militias, supported by the Iranian regime.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, Dr. Muhsin Shaif Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs, and General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.

This diplomatic engagement underscores the ongoing international efforts to support Yemen in its path towards peace and stability, highlighting the critical role of international partnerships in addressing the complex challenges facing the country.
