ADEN, YEMEN – Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Abdul Rahman Sheikh, held a meeting today with the Dutch Ambassador to Yemen, Janet Sebens, and her accompanying delegation. The primary focus of their discussions was on enhancing strategic cooperation to implement significant projects, particularly the “Master Plan” for Aden Port, which aims to revitalize the region’s economy with support from the Dutch government.
During the meeting, Minister Sheikh reiterated the local authority’s dedication to collaborating closely with both the government and international partners. He underscored the necessity of updating the “Master Plan” for Aden Port, emphasizing that the revitalization of Aden and the restoration of its economic prominence are contingent upon improving revenue streams, advancing port facilities, and efficiently operating the Aden refineries.
The discussions also covered the advancement of the water reservoir project in the Al-Barzakh area of Khormaksar District. Funded jointly by the Dutch and German governments, this initiative aims to construct a reservoir with a capacity of 18,000 cubic meters. The project encompasses all essential connections and accessories for installation and operation, with oversight managed by the Social Fund for Development.
In addition, the ongoing efforts to execute the “Master Plan” for Aden Port, supported by the Dutch government, were highlighted as a cornerstone for the port’s future and its pivotal economic and developmental role in the region.
