Four Civilians Injured in Houthi Shelling in Al Hudaydah, Yemen

On Tuesday, four civilians, including a child and a woman, sustained injuries from Houthi artillery shelling that targeted a village in southern Al Hudaydah province, western Yemen.

Details of the Incident

Ishraq Al-Maqatari, a member of the National Commission to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations, reported the incident on the social media platform X. The shelling struck the village of Bani Akish, located northwest of the Hays district, resulting in varying degrees of injuries among the civilian population.

Injuries Reported

According to Al-Maqatari, the injured individuals include two-and-a-half-year-old Ali Abdullah Salem Kazeiz, who suffered a severe injury to his right eye from shrapnel. Additionally, Hala Ali Klib Tarha sustained moderate injuries, while Jumaa Mohammed Batili and Haitham Abdullah Salem Kazeiz experienced multiple injuries across their bodies.

Medical Response and Ongoing Concerns

The injured civilians were transported to Hays Hospital for necessary medical treatment. Al-Maqatari expressed growing concerns about the continued targeting of civilian gatherings by Houthi forces in rural areas. This ongoing violence exacerbates the suffering of local residents, who already face significant challenges due to inadequate healthcare services.

The situation in Al Hudaydah highlights the urgent need for increased protection of civilians and improved access to healthcare in conflict-affected regions of Yemen. As the conflict continues, the safety and well-being of innocent civilians remain at risk.
