Families of captives protest sectarian death sentences by Houthi militias against their kin.

In a protest held today in Marib Governorate, families of individuals kidnapped and forcibly disappeared in prisons run by the Houthi militia, labeled as a terrorist group and backed by the Iranian regime, condemned the sectarian execution orders issued by the Houthi militia against several of their family members. These individuals have been abducted and tortured in the militia’s prisons for years.

In a statement released during the protest, the families declared that these execution orders violate humanitarian and international laws and norms, as they are issued by unconstitutional courts lacking legal authority. They accused the Houthi militia of transforming these courts into sectarian guillotines aimed at eliminating opponents who reject their extremist ideology and sectarian project.

The statement called upon the international community and United Nations organizations to play their role in preventing the Houthi militia from carrying out execution crimes against their family members. It appealed to human rights defenders worldwide to stand with the kidnapped individuals to prevent their execution and genocide.

Furthermore, the families demanded that the United Nations Security Council, the Human Rights Council, and the UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Yemen take their legal and moral responsibilities seriously in protecting the rights of those kidnapped, as covered under the Stockholm Agreement.

The statement expressed strong condemnation and rejection of the execution orders and all criminal activities pursued by the Houthi militia, aiming to terrorize and silence voices opposing their ideas and to confiscate their rights, including the right to a dignified life.
