Early Warning in Hadhramaut alerts to weather disturbances in the next 72 hours

Hadhramaut's Early Warning Center Issues Weather Disturbance Alert

Impending Weather Shifts

The Early Warning Center for Multi-Hazard and Climate Risks in Hadhramaut Province issued an alert on Friday, cautioning against an atmospheric disturbance expected to impact parts of Hadhramaut and other Yemeni provinces over the next 72 hours. The alert, based on the latest weather maps and forecasts, highlights an unstable weather condition affecting areas of Hadhramaut, extending its influence across the nation due to a tropical disturbance wave originating from a low-pressure system advancing in the North Arabian Sea, accompanied by a moist air mass.

Extended Weather Unrest

Forecasts predict an expansion of heavy thunderstorm activities in the afternoons, evenings, and into the early morning hours across various parts of Hadhramaut’s valleys and deserts. These conditions are likely to spread towards the southern plateaus, coastal mountainous regions, and adjacent rural areas, including some coastal zones. The region might experience varying rainfall intensities, ranging from moderate to heavy, occasionally reaching severe levels, potentially leading to flash floods in urban and rural valleys and their tributaries.

Safety Measures and Precautions

The Early Warning Center urges all citizens to exercise caution during rainfall, avoid crossing valleys in flow, and ensure the elevation of belongings and vehicles from watercourses and their branches. The alert emphasizes the importance of avoiding contact with electrical poles or wires during and after rain and steering clear of flying objects during strong winds. Additionally, it warns of reduced visibility on roads during heavy rains, underscoring the necessity to adhere to safety instructions to mitigate risks associated with storms and lightning.

Community Vigilance Encouraged

As the region braces for the forecasted weather disturbances, the Early Warning Center’s alert serves as a reminder for the community to remain vigilant and prepared. By taking proactive measures and following safety guidelines, residents can safeguard themselves and their properties against the potential impacts of the upcoming atmospheric instability.
