Council member Tariq Saleh inspects progress on the second phase of the road project to break the siege on Taiz.

Tarik Saleh Inspects Progress on Taiz Road Project

Today, Tarik Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, visited the ongoing work on the second phase of the road project aimed at breaking the siege on Taiz. This vital road connects Mawza and Al-Wazi’iya, extending to the beginning of the Al-Kadha road in Taiz Governorate. The project receives generous support from the United Arab Emirates.

Project Details and Objectives

The current phase builds on the first phase, which spans 37 kilometers from Al-Kadha to Al-Bayrin. This section features two lanes, each 20 meters wide, along with a central island. The primary goal of this project is to enhance economic growth and facilitate trade and movement for citizens between the coast and Taiz city. The city has endured the consequences of a blockade imposed by Houthi militias for the past ten years.

Significance of the Road

During his visit, Saleh praised the advanced progress made in the project’s implementation. He emphasized that this road will serve as a vital artery for improving living and economic conditions in the liberated areas. Furthermore, he urged the team to accelerate their work to ensure the road opens on schedule, stressing the importance of adhering to quality and technical standards.

Commitment to the People of Taiz

Saleh highlighted that the project reflects the commitment of the national resistance to serve the people of Taiz and the liberated regions. He acknowledged the significant support from the UAE, which has been instrumental in overcoming the restrictions imposed by the Houthi conflict.

Technical Aspects of the Project

The project includes modern road paving and asphalt work, as well as the construction of bridges and drainage systems. These features aim to mitigate the risks of flooding that threaten low-lying areas. Upon completion, the road is expected to significantly reduce travel time for transporting goods and passengers from Aden along the western coast to Taiz city.

Community Engagement

In addition to inspecting the road project, Saleh also visited the residents of villages adjacent to the route in the Mawza district. He exchanged greetings with them in celebration of the upcoming Ramadan month, fostering community spirit and support during this significant time.

This road project not only represents a critical infrastructure development but also symbolizes hope and resilience for the people of Taiz.
