Council member Tariq Saleh inaugurates a series of road projects in celebration of the National Day on May 22.

New Coastal Road Opens in Yemen to Boost Development

Introduction of Key Infrastructure Projects

On Thursday, Tarik Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, inaugurated the international coastal road connecting Al-Mokha to Al-Suqia. He also laid the foundation for the third phase of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, aimed at breaking the blockade on Taiz. Additionally, he announced the first phase of the Victory Road, linking the Lahij and Hodeidah governorates, funded by the United Arab Emirates.

Celebrating National Unity

During the inauguration, Saleh congratulated the Yemeni people on the National Day of the Republic of Yemen, celebrated on May 22. He emphasized that these projects aim to serve citizens, facilitate transportation, and enhance local development in the region.

Addressing Security Concerns

Saleh highlighted the ongoing terrorist practices of the Houthi militias, which receive Iranian weapons to destroy public facilities, including schools, mosques, roads, bridges, and homes. He referenced a recent seizure of Iranian military supplies by the National Resistance, which included three million detonators and a 3,600-kilometer-long fuse. Saleh asserted that the Houthis misuse this support to harm Yemenis and devastate their homeland.

Condemning Houthi Violence

The council member condemned the Houthi agenda as one focused on landmines, death, and destruction. He pointed out the horrific crimes occurring almost daily due to landmine explosions across Hodeidah and Yemen, attributing these incidents to the Houthis’ terrorist tendencies and their vendetta against the Yemeni people.

Commitment to Development and Peace

"We fight the Houthis with both arms and development," Saleh stated. "While we strive for life, the Houthis aim to spread death and destroy Yemen." He expressed gratitude to the UAE for its support of development projects, particularly those prioritized by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed. He also thanked local workers, authorities, contractors, and security personnel for their contributions to these initiatives.

Key Attendees at the Inauguration

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan, Hodeidah Governor Dr. Hassan Taher, and various political, military, security, and civil leaders.

Conclusion

The opening of these infrastructure projects marks a significant step towards enhancing connectivity and development in Yemen, while also addressing the pressing security challenges posed by the Houthi militias. The collaboration with the UAE underscores the importance of international support in rebuilding the nation.
