Tarik Saleh, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, recently met with a delegation from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to discuss strategies for revitalizing the tourism sector in liberated areas. This initiative comes in response to the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict instigated by the Houthi militia.
The ministry’s delegation included key officials such as Jaafar Abubakr, the Deputy Minister, and representatives from the Development and Investment Sector, as well as the Tourism Services and Activities Sector. They presented comprehensive plans aimed at restoring historical and archaeological sites damaged during the Houthi conflict. Additionally, the plans focus on enhancing infrastructure and providing essential services to boost domestic tourism.
During the meeting, participants discussed several obstacles hindering the development of the tourism sector. The destruction of heritage sites and the decline in investment levels due to the ongoing Houthi war emerged as significant concerns. These challenges have severely impacted the potential for tourism growth in the region.
Tarik Saleh emphasized that the Houthi conflict has inflicted substantial losses on the tourism industry. He called for intensified efforts to revive this vital sector and attract investment. Saleh highlighted the unique advantages of liberated areas, including stunning beaches and historically significant archaeological sites, which could draw tourists and stimulate economic growth.
Furthermore, Saleh reiterated that achieving development in liberated areas is part of a broader national effort to restore the state. He stressed that this goal holds equal importance to military objectives in the ongoing struggle for stability and progress.
In conclusion, the revitalization of the tourism sector in Yemen’s liberated areas represents a crucial step towards economic recovery and national development. By addressing existing challenges and leveraging the region’s natural and historical assets, stakeholders aim to create a sustainable tourism industry that benefits local communities.
