Council member Major General Sultan Al-Aradah emphasizes the international community’s role in supporting Yemen’s stability.

International Support Crucial for Yemen’s Stability

Role of the International Community

Lieutenant General Sultan Al-Arada, a member of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, emphasized the vital role of the international community in assisting the Yemeni people. He highlighted the need for support to navigate the current extraordinary circumstances and to fulfill aspirations for security, stability, and development.

Meeting with the French Ambassador

During a virtual meeting on Wednesday, Al-Arada discussed the latest political, military, and humanitarian developments with Catherine Colonna, the French Ambassador to Yemen. They explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Yemen and France.

Addressing Current Challenges

Al-Arada pointed out that the ongoing challenges require a unified international stance. He stressed the importance of supporting state institutions to strengthen their capabilities. This support will enable these institutions to fulfill their constitutional duties, address threats, and serve the citizens effectively. He noted that empowering institutions is crucial for alleviating humanitarian suffering and improving economic and service conditions. Furthermore, it will create the right environment for reconstruction and development.

Call for Collaborative Efforts

The Lieutenant General underscored the necessity of uniting local, regional, and international efforts. Collaborative action is essential to overcome obstacles and address current challenges. Such unity will contribute to establishing stability at both national and regional levels, safeguarding the area from chaos and the risks of terrorism.

Commitment to Peaceful Resolutions

Al-Arada reaffirmed the commitment to fundamental peace references, including the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216. He views these as the foundation for achieving the desired stability.

France’s Continued Support

In response, Ambassador Colonna reiterated France’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in Yemen. She expressed her country’s willingness to collaborate with international partners to meet the aspirations of the Yemeni people.

The ongoing dialogue between Yemen and France reflects a shared commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region.
