Yemeni Leadership Engages with German Officials

On Monday, Major General Faraj Salmeen Al-Bahsani, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with Janina Kopfmueller, the Deputy Head of the German Embassy Mission in Yemen. This meeting aimed to enhance bilateral relations and discuss the evolving national and regional situations.

Exploring Collaborative Opportunities

The meeting, which also included Thomas Schneider, the Deputy Head of the German Embassy in Saudi Arabia, focused on exploring avenues for mutual cooperation between Yemen and Germany. Both parties emphasized the importance of collaboration, especially given the challenging circumstances Yemen currently faces.

Addressing Economic and Humanitarian Challenges

During the discussion, Major General Al-Bahsani highlighted the Presidential Leadership Council’s efforts to navigate political and economic changes. He stressed the need for security and stability while working to resolve the humanitarian crisis. Al-Bahsani pointed out the severe economic repercussions stemming from Houthi militia attacks on oil facilities, which have led to a loss of approximately 70% of the state’s revenue. This situation has adversely affected the lives of citizens and the quality of services available.

Call for International Support

Al-Bahsani underscored the critical need for international support, particularly from Germany, in addressing economic and humanitarian issues. He expressed gratitude for the ongoing assistance from the Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government.

Germany’s Commitment to Peace and Stability

In response, Deputy Ambassador Kopfmueller reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council and the Yemeni government. She emphasized the importance of continued efforts to achieve peace and stability in Yemen.

This meeting marks a significant step in fostering international partnerships aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by the Yemeni people.
