Leadership Oversight on Solar Power Project in Shabwa

On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, Major General Aidarus al-Zubaidi, a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, inspected the construction progress of a solar power station in Shabwa. This project, which boasts a capacity of 53 megawatts, comes as a generous initiative from the United Arab Emirates aimed at enhancing electricity generation in the region. The solar station occupies a 600-square-meter site located northwest of the city of Ataq.

Detailed Project Overview

During his visit, Major General al-Zubaidi was accompanied by several key officials, including Mohammed al-Ghaithi, head of the Consultation and Reconciliation Authority, and ministers from various sectors such as electricity and energy, civil service, transport, planning and international cooperation, social affairs and labor, as well as agriculture, irrigation, and fisheries. The group received a comprehensive briefing from the supervising engineers about the project’s components. The solar power station will feature the installation of 87,000 solar panels, a nighttime storage system, a conversion station, and a high-voltage line rated at 33 kV, extending 19 kilometers.

Commitment to Timely Completion

Major General al-Zubaidi emphasized the importance of maintaining the rapid pace of work to ensure the project meets its scheduled completion date and adheres to the agreed-upon technical specifications. He expressed gratitude for the substantial humanitarian and developmental support provided by the United Arab Emirates, represented by President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. This support aims to improve living conditions and services for the residents of Shabwa and other liberated areas.
