The Civil Registry Authority has successfully identified a case of identity theft and official data forgery following an administrative investigation. This action came under the direct guidance of Major General Dr. Mohammed Baharoun, after receiving information about a woman impersonating a citizen identified as (J. M. N. A).
According to an official report, the incident began when the impersonator visited one of the branches and presented unclear images of an identity card. This prompted officials to request additional documentation to verify the authenticity of the information. Upon examination, officials discovered significant discrepancies between the submitted images and the data recorded on the smart card. Consequently, they halted all procedures and implemented necessary measures.
The report further indicated that the suspect later submitted several requests at different branches, including replacement of lost documents and national registrations. This raised suspicions among specialists during the review of her real name in the records. Investigators confirmed that the woman had engaged in forgery and impersonated a member of another family.
After thorough verification, authorities notified security agencies, which promptly apprehended the suspect and initiated legal proceedings. The case has since been referred to the appropriate judicial authorities for further action.
The Civil Registry Authority praised the role of the smart card system and electronic civil registry in uncovering this case. They emphasized that accurate data and electronic connectivity between branches played a crucial role in preventing the processing of any fraudulent transactions. This incident highlights the importance of maintaining a precise national database that reflects reality.
