In a bold defensive move, the Yemeni Armed Forces successfully thwarted an attempted drone attack on the Safer oil facility in Marib province. The attack, orchestrated by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, involved three explosive-laden drones aimed at the vital civilian infrastructure.
Early on Friday, August 23, 2024, the Houthi terrorist group launched a cowardly attack targeting the Safer oil facility with three suicide drones packed with high explosives. The Yemeni Armed Forces, in a statement released by the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, detailed the events of the attempted strike. The drones were launched at approximately 3:26 AM, in an effort to destroy this crucial economic asset.
However, the Yemeni Armed Forces, with divine assistance, managed to shoot down the drones before they could reach their target. This successful interception prevented what could have been a devastating blow to Yemen’s economic infrastructure.
Investigations by the competent authorities within the armed forces have pinpointed the launch location of these hostile drones. The area, situated between Dahyidha and Qarn Al-Saiyari east of Al-Hazm city in Al-Jawf province, is currently under enemy control. This identification marks a significant step in addressing the source of such attacks.
The Yemeni Armed Forces have reaffirmed their readiness to respond to any acts targeting the Yemeni people’s interests and the country’s sovereign economic facilities. This recent incident underscores the ongoing threats posed by the Houthi militia and the resilience of the Yemeni Armed Forces in safeguarding national assets.
The interception of these drones not only prevented potential damage to the Safer oil facility but also highlighted the strategic capabilities of Yemen’s military forces in countering terrorism and protecting the nation’s infrastructure.
