Aden Governor Discusses Social Welfare Fund Enhancement

In a strategic meeting today, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, the Governor of Aden and Minister of State, engaged in discussions with Majid Al-Shajari, the Director of the Social Welfare Fund, focusing on the advancement of the fund’s operations and strengthening its efforts to assist deserving groups.

Boosting Operational Efficiency and Networking

During the meeting, which also saw the participation of Aboud Naji, the General Director of the Dar Saad Directorate, Lamlas emphasized the importance of increasing the pace of work and networking to better serve the targeted groups. He highlighted the need for focusing on sustainable small-scale projects, reaffirming the local authority’s interest in and support for the fund’s programs and plans across all directorates in Aden.

Comprehensive Review of Fund Activities

Lamlas received a detailed briefing from Al-Shajari on the fund’s activities in the Aden directorates, including unconditional cash programs and the critical role of the World Bank’s resumed support amidst growing numbers of beneficiaries. Al-Shajari outlined the mechanisms of operation and disbursement coordinated with community committees, acknowledging their significant efforts in facilitating the fund’s access to beneficiaries.

Acknowledging Support from Various Quarters

Al-Shajari expressed appreciation for the support extended by the local authority, the Ministry of Social Affairs, and UNICEF to the social fund’s projects in the temporary capital, Aden. This collaboration underscores a unified commitment to enhancing social welfare initiatives in the region.

The meeting between Lamlas and Al-Shajari marks a pivotal step towards improving the Social Welfare Fund’s impact in Aden, demonstrating a concerted effort to address the needs of vulnerable populations through enhanced operational strategies and collaborative support.
