Aden: Meteorological forecasts predict extreme heat in coastal and desert areas, with scattered thunderstorms expected.

Severe Weather Forecast for Coastal and Desert Regions

The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast Center has issued a warning for hot to extremely hot weather across coastal and desert areas. On Saturday, the forecast predicts humid daytime conditions and moderate temperatures at night. Additionally, scattered thunderstorms may bring rain to parts of the eastern and southern coasts, including the Socotra Archipelago. The center also noted that winds will strengthen along the southern and eastern coasts, reaching high levels in Socotra.

Mountainous Areas Expect Partial Cloudiness and Thunderstorms

In the mountainous regions, the weather report anticipates partly to mostly cloudy skies, with chances of thunderstorms extending from Saada in the north to Lahij in the south. This includes areas in Abyan, Shabwa, Hadramout, and Al-Mahra. Meanwhile, desert and plateau regions will experience extremely hot daytime temperatures, with potential thunderstorms in the deserts of Shabwa, Hadramout, and Al-Mahra, accompanied by active winds that may stir up dust.

Temperature Readings Across Major Cities

The weather report recorded maximum and minimum temperatures in several cities. In Aden, temperatures reached 38°C during the day and dropped to 29°C at night. Mukalla recorded 35°C/29°C, Al-Hudaydah 38°C/31°C, Socotra 35°C/27°C, Sayun 43°C/28°C, Sana’a 31°C/16°C, and Taiz 32°C/19°C. The center urged residents in coastal and desert areas to avoid direct sun exposure and to stay hydrated. Drivers should also steer clear of flood-prone areas during rain.

Marine Conditions and Safety Warnings

In the marine forecast, the center expects sea conditions to range from light to moderate waves along the western coasts and the Gulf of Aden. However, the seas off Al-Mahra and the Arabian Sea will be moderate to rough, while the waters around Socotra will be rough. Fishermen and ship captains should exercise caution due to strong winds and high waves in the Arabian Sea and the eastern and southern coasts.
