This three-day event gathers 30 investigators and representatives from civil society across various governorates.

Focus on Transitional Justice and Human Rights Violations

The workshop aims to address the complexities of adapting to violations and the uniqueness of trials within the framework of transitional justice. Participants will collaborate with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to enhance their understanding of these critical issues.

Objectives and Discussions

It will facilitate discussions on the opportunities for achieving transitional justice from a civil society perspective. Additionally, the workshop will explore the commission’s role in future transitional justice initiatives.

Continuous Review of Challenges

Throughout the workshop, participants will engage in ongoing reviews of the challenges associated with adapting to violations. They will discuss significant issues related to international humanitarian law and international human rights law. The agenda includes examining the commission’s list of violations in relation to recent local contexts and proposing suitable solutions.

Emphasis on Fair Trials and Redress

The workshop will also highlight the importance of fair trials concerning human rights cases. Participants will discuss the potential for achieving justice and the mechanisms for providing redress and compensation to victims.

This initiative marks a significant step toward enhancing the capacity of investigators and fostering collaboration between the National Commission and civil society organizations in Yemen.
