A woman in her fifties was tragically killed by a sniper affiliated with the Houthi militia on Wednesday while she was inside her home in the Maqbana district of Taiz, southwestern Yemen.
Sources from human rights organizations report that the victim, identified as Saida Mohammed Ahmed Abdullah, suffered a direct gunshot wound to the head. The sniper, positioned on one of the surrounding hills, fired at her while she was in her home located in the village of Al-Tara, within the Al-Qahifa isolation area of Maqbana.
This incident highlights a disturbing trend of continuous violations committed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against civilians in frontline areas of the province. Sniping and random targeting of homes have emerged as key tactics used by the Houthis to instill fear among rural residents.
The killing of Saida Mohammed Ahmed Abdullah underscores the urgent need for international attention to the ongoing violence in Yemen. As the conflict continues, civilians remain vulnerable to such acts of aggression, raising concerns about their safety and well-being.
