A new faction of the Rapid Support Forces has defected and joined the Sudanese Army.

New Defections from Rapid Support Forces Join Sudanese Army

A wave of defections continues to impact the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan. Recently, a new group of approximately 200 fighters arrived in Omdurman, led by Abu Bakr Hamouda Dahloob, the head of special operations intelligence in North Kordofan.

Defectors Align with Sudanese Armed Forces

The defectors announced their full integration into the Sudanese Armed Forces, bringing their complete arsenal with them. They expressed their readiness to engage in military operations alongside the army, joint forces, and other supporting units.

In statements reported by the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA), Dahloob emphasized their realization of the errors associated with supporting the RSF. He declared their total commitment to the army and their determination to fight against the RSF.

Acknowledgment of Previous Defectors

Dahloob praised previous defectors who had joined the army, including notable figures such as Al-Noor Quba, Al-Safna, and Musa Khamsin. He assured that this new group would work to expose what he termed the “RSF project.”

Ongoing Conflict and Its Consequences

This defection occurs amid the ongoing conflict that erupted in Sudan in April 2023 between the army and the RSF. The war has resulted in extensive security and humanitarian repercussions across various regions of the country.

The situation remains fluid as the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF continue to clash, raising concerns about the future stability of Sudan.
