MUKALLA, Yemen – The local government in Hadhramaut, led by Council Member and Governor Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting creators across cultural, artistic, and sports fields. During a recent meeting in Mukalla, Al-Khanbashi emphasized the importance of fostering an environment that nurtures talent and showcases the province’s cultural identity both locally and internationally.
In a meeting held today, Al-Khanbashi met with artist Rasha Al-Haddad and the Director of the Youth and Sports Office in Coastal Hadhramaut, Hassan Masjdi. The governor reviewed a selection of Al-Haddad’s diverse artistic works and praised the exceptional quality reflected in her creations.
Al-Khanbashi commended Al-Haddad for her significant accomplishments on both local and international stages. Notably, she received the Gold Medal for International Creativity in Oman and secured top positions in artistic events in Aden. Additionally, she participated in international events remotely from Iraq. The governor reiterated the local government’s ongoing support for artists and its commitment to encouraging creative initiatives, including opportunities for participation in exhibitions and forums.
In the realm of sports, Al-Khanbashi discussed the current state of athletic activities in the province with Masjdi. He praised the vibrant sports movement in Hadhramaut and highlighted the successes of local athletes on national and international levels. These achievements, he noted, serve as a source of pride for both the province and the nation.
The governor directed that local athletes be honored for their accomplishments. He also listened to updates regarding preparations for the Hadhramaut Sports Cup, which will feature 11 different sports. Furthermore, he received details about the upcoming Hadhramaut Cultural Championship, scheduled to take place in the Tarim district next August.
The local government’s proactive approach in supporting artists and athletes underscores its dedication to enhancing Hadhramaut’s cultural and sports landscape. By fostering creativity and recognizing achievements, the province aims to strengthen its presence on both local and global stages.
